The Ask:

My freshman year of college in the Fall of 2019, I took Intro to Fashion as one of my very first classes.

The final project assigned to the class was a 8-10 page, not including reference articles, report on Women’s Wear Daily.

WWD publication is comparable to the bible for fashion professionals, so understanding its history and impact on the industry today is vital.

The Process

The report comprised of various sections. First a brief history of the WWD publication and then analyzing various hand picked articles from the magazine. These articles could consist of recent trends, social media influencers, and even how technology has impacted the industry.

This project required a lot of research and preparation. This was my very first large paper as a college student so I was very intimidated.

The Results

Being my first large paper in college, I was pleasantly surprised receiving a B on the assignment.

For me, I put a lot of pressure on myself for the report to be perfect. I spent many hours contemplating if my work was sufficient enough to be submitted.

This assignment really helped me understand the effort and energy that goes into the writing processes. Writing in the collegiate setting has its pressure but it’s all about making edits and trusting your own writing.
